POL & GRACE HOTEL

Your Ephemeral Habitat
We like to think of Pol&Grace as the natural habitat for creative wanderers, those who challenge the status quo and want to embrace the perpetual engaging essence of Barcelona.

We seek to recreate a space where the curious and observant traveler will feel in their natural environment.

The walls at Pol&Grace breathe the life and essence of those artists and designers who have spent time with us during their artistic residencies and endow our lobby with continuous pop-up exhibitions that intervene in the constant evolution of the spaces.

BREAKFAST

Taste, Eat, Repeat
Stay at the hotel and have breakfast at home. Experience the variety of local products in a typical Catalan breakfast.
Our assortment is traditional, seasonal and includes regional products such as spreadable tomatoes, artisan breads, traditional sausages, granolas and cereals, a variety of seasonal fruits and hot dishes.

CASA VICENS

Stop killing time, start wandering
We are curious, we like to question conventions, turn concepts inside out and reimagine reality. This is the core philosophy with which we re-think spaces within the Hotel. The common spaces are synonym of a waiting room, associated with the passing of dead time. We want to turn this lapsus of a space dedicated to WAITING into a space centered on WANDER. We transform that spatial identity into “THE OVER” where you will find the work of our artists in residence. Stimulate your mind with new aesthetics, new forms of art, new perspectives and start your own discovery of the city with a pair of fresh eyes and awakened curiosity.

NONTSIKELELO VELEKO

RESIDENT ARTIST
Born in 1977 in the North West Bodibe South Africa and raised in Cape Town, Nontsikelelo Veleko studied photography from 2000-2003 at the Market Photoworkshop and was a trainer in outreach projects in photography.
Nontsikelelo worked under John Fleetwood from 2001-2007 with projects such as “Take a girl to work”. She has worked on several photography exhibition showing her work all over the world.
Her work presents a strong statement of a younger generation that is loud, self-expressive and daring; a collection of youth she strongly relates to. Such sentiments are evident in the photographs resulting from what she considers to be a ‘collaborative process’.

LOOP BARCELONA 2022

The platform for artist's film and videos.
Once again we were part of the City Screen program for LOOP Barcelona Festival with Neville Starling and Mo Laudi, curated by Sara Catalán.

NEVILLE STARLING

VERTICAL HORIZON
Wondrous vision is a kaleidoscope. Boundless. Vertical Horizon takes as its catalytic departure point the event of a corner through a sculptural experience of banal 8mm films to posit a new existence beyond a normative, totalising frame. The concertinaed and expanding, recurrent and fleeting stills become vertically read through memory, absence and imagination. In absence the project imagines, “who am I around the corner”? Aurally, it insists on one’s right to opacity as a contrapuntal open field poetics. Exhibited at a hotel – a geography of displacement – it embraces cinema’s etymology: kinema - to move.
Pol & Grace Hotel

MO LAUDI

AFRO BOLERO II
"The video is laden with symbols, metaphors and contradictions. African spirituality interlinks with the Boléro’s etymology, with flamenco music and dance which itself was influenced by the gypsies whose journeys went from Hindustan via Egypt. It pays tribute to renowned African musicians such as Manu Dibango, Tony Allen.

The central message is about our connection to the past. It is about the racism and violence in society and the fact that we consume it as if part of entertainment."
Pol & Grace Hotel

Mo Laudi

Room 605
His artistic practice includes experiments with sound as material, sonic landscapes mixing vocals, textures and rhythms as a socio-political critique of society. Inspired by knowledge of African systems knowledge, post-apartheid transitionism and international and underground subcultures.

Pol & Grace Hotel

Sam Samiee

Room 603
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HIS INSTALLATIONS AS EXTENDED PAINTINGS ARE THE BREAK WITH THE TRADITION OF FLAT PAINTING AND THE RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION OF HOW ARTISTS CAN REPRESENT THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL WORLD IN THE SPACE OF PAINTING AS A METAPHOR FOR A SET OF IDEAS.

May 22, 2019 Matías Pérez - Sevilla Miscelánea
